du Boulay transformed a Grade II listed space into a sophisticated yet inviting Hawksmoor venue. The fit-out carefully preserves the building’s architectural character while introducing refined interiors inspired by the grandeur of the 1920s.

Hawksmoor Liverpool is a high-end steak restaurant and cocktail bar situated in the historic Grade II-listed India Buildings. The project involved the careful restoration and fit-out of a 165-cover restaurant, complemented by a 30-seat bar and an exclusive private dining space, ‘The New Yorker Room’ private dining room accommodates up to 18 guests.

The interior design takes inspiration from the grandeur of the 1920s, blending classic elegance with modern functionality. The transformation was part of a wider redevelopment of the India Buildings, which now serves as a 270,000 sq ft office hub for HMRC.

Completed in 2022, the project delivers a refined yet welcoming space that aligns with Hawksmoor’s reputation for quality dining, featuring premium dry-aged steaks, sustainably sourced seafood, and award-winning cocktails.

Positioned in the heart of Liverpool’s commercial district, Hawksmoor Liverpool stands as a prime example of how sensitive restoration and high-quality construction can rejuvenate heritage spaces while maintaining their historical character.
