du Boulay were very pleased to be approached by Gina Brennan to work on restauranteur Tom Etridge’s stunning new restaurant project in Verbier.
Verbier is one of Europe’s most exclusive ski resorts and a long-standing favourite of royals, celebrities and the international jet set. Housed in a large contemporary wooden chalet with sweeping views across the Alps and valley, Vie Montagne boasts several separate dining experiences and a modern microbrewery.
du Boulay’s involvement was in creating the ground and first floor bars, including the supply and installation of the flooring and ceilings.
The Bier Haus bar on the ground floor pays homage to traditional rustic pubs, using features such as dark timber for the shelving and ceiling panels, green slate flooring, bespoke walnut bar tops and antique brass details to create a contemporary craft beer bar. The microbrewery is visible through the glass back bar.
The chic upstairs Club Room is home to a fine dining restaurant which epitomises understated luxury and has panoramic mountain views. The bar has dark timber shelving with a gold leaf finish to the back bar, thick Arezzo marble bar tops with LED lighting under the over-hang and antique mirror table tops. The ceilings to the restaurant are finished with fabric-wrapped acoustic panels edged with brass trims which incorporate beams to create a cosy and intimate atmosphere whereas in the bar, we installed reclaimed Versailles timber.
du Boulay overcame significant logistical challenges to deliver this project on time and within budget. All the joinery and marble were produced in the UK and exported to Switzerland. Verbier is at an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level and the small and winding roads cannot accommodate large vehicles so we had to plan all deliveries with great precision. Working in a non-EU country meant we had to comply with Swiss legislation at all times which required considerable research and attention to detail.
We worked closely with Gina to ensure her designs and concepts became reality and Tom was delighted with the result.
du Boulay have considerable experience in the execution of high quality restaurant interiors which helped Vie Montagne achieve an excellent finished product
