A contemporary Japanese restaurant in Mayfair, London

KOYN, a modern Japanese restaurant in Mayfair, London, opened in September 2022. It is located in a recently reconstructed historic building near Grosvenor Square, which previously housed the US Embassy and the Canadian High Commission.

The restaurant spans two floors and can accommodate 160 guests. Designed by Fabled Studios, the interior takes inspiration from the contrasting landscapes of Mount Fuji.

The ground floor, ‘Midori,’ reflects the tranquil side of the mountain, featuring elements reminiscent of Japanese zen gardens, such as green leather banquette seating and oyster shell walls.

In contrast, the basement level, ‘Magma,’ is designed to represent the volcanic core, incorporating dark oak ceilings and a robata grill fueled by charcoal to create an intimate, dramatic ambiance.

The project included luxury finishes, private dining spaces, and fully equipped kitchens, including an open-show kitchen.
